Post by Tomato on Wed Jun 03, 2009 7:27 pm

Hey, my name is Dan, I'm new to this forum. I'm a friend of BSmith - From Neoseeker under Tomato13187, & if you don't know me there, you may know me as Appledaddy from Gametalk (Back in like 2003 xD). I used to roleplay a lot more than I do now, since I've been busy with school & life. But I figured I'd pop in & say hello. I don't know how much I'll contribute, but when I do, it probably won't suck too much haha.

One of the nicest things about small forums is that you can actually just be a noun or something without hundreds of numbers. xD

& hey! It's Bsmith!

I will take a look now, thank you very much. & don't worry, I'm not too much of a jerk. =D

Hi Tomato <3

I eat tomatos. >:

Just as equally, however, guys, I really, really like 'native americans', and I don't group asian indians around with them. My boyfriend is indian (asian) and he tells me just to call native americans 'indians'. Its just as correct, when you think about it. The Law of Common Useage states that any figure of speech or gramatical error used often enough eventually becomes acceptable as proper. Its why the dictionaries and grammer books don't still have Old English as proper.

This is also applied to names, as well. Its proper to call what English folk call 'chips' french fries in the USA. Same with cookies, pants, trash... anything like that. Something is named what people feel comfortable calling it.

Hey, Nissadex. Very nice to meet you, & I'd like to remind you that I am probably not very delicious haha.

As for the whole indian/native american thing, I think with a race, or anything that can speak for itself, their group should be called what they like to be called, since they can speak for themselves. I don't know what they like to be called, considering there are so few of them, since the white man killed nearly all of them. It's not like fries or chips, which are just things with no thoughts or input on what they're called.

Oh, nonono, there's plenty of Natives if you know where to look. I.E. my city. When I was 14, about four in every five of my friends were at least some part Aboriginal.

So, essentially, there are so few pure-blooded Natives left because they all interbred with everyone else.

Well, I'm from New York, so since the whites pushed them west & north so long ago, there are hardly any left in these parts. I have a friend who lives on a reservation in Canada, actually. But you're right, finding a pureblood is extremely difficult, but as time goes on, it'll be hard to find a pureblood of anyone in the Western hemisphere.

So, who wants to go wander off into space with Norad again? He had an idea for a potentially long term RP while playing Spore (that is, while abducting helpless citizens from lowly civ-stage planets and depositing them all over the cosmos) and is curious about who would be interested in a sci-fi that isn't quite a sci-fi in the normal sense in that it takes place today, on this earth.

. . .he might also force you all to roleplay as yourselves depending on how interesting that might make it.

Details will come as interest is shown.

Huzzah for Spore.

And abductions

Does anyone else around here roleplay in chat/instant messenger/private messages? Now that Kyin's gone for a while I have no one to do so with D=

Becca and I do from time to time...but probably not stuff you'd like. >.>

And, Hi Tomato. So far, I like you. I'll be watching. Not - although - from the bushes.

I mostly play as myself, anyway, Jaso-...Nora-...Iason Rex. But something about you saying "wander off into space" has me interested.

I tried doing one of those MSN RPs but I find they just don't let you type long enough messages.

I don't like those, I prefer to have as much time as I want to sit down and come up with my next line.

I like 'em. You don't have to put much effort into them, really.

They keep the boredom at bay while not taking too much time to write "as much as I want"

By the law of common usage every know-nothing graphic artist wannabe who refers to cuts as renders is right. This does not change the fact that a render (graphically speaking) is something that is created graphically and not just cut from something else, regardless.

In the same manner it is politically correct and whatever to call Native Americans and Aboriginals Indians but because it comes from someone misunderstanding their situation when they named them it is still wrong nonetheless.

Don't be mistaken, I dislike it happening but I do, of course, understand it and why it happens and I don't have anything against people who use the term (like I said, with Rust I was just in a bad mood beforehand). It's not as much of a big deal as I seem to be making out but I'm just saying it's still a wrong term either way (exactly like with cuts and renders; I dislike people using the terms wrongly but I don't dislike the people who do it for it, it's just the way shit goes).

By the by, Shadow will be ace-ing her first challenge soon (tonight or tomorrow, depending on time, usage and whatnot). She profusely apologises for the delay.

Also (gosh, where are my manners) howdy, Tomato. I recognise the name and avvy but don't actually know you but any friend of theirs is a friend of mine (like it or not :redanger: )

Doesn't that usually just involve going into the next room and changing clothes? :shifty:
